Osteomyology is a holistic, alternative therapy in the UK combining techniques from Osteopathy, Chiropractic, and other manual therapies, focusing on treating the whole person (body, mind, spirit) by addressing muscles, bones, joints, and nerves, often aiming to find root causes of issues like back pain, sports injuries, or headaches using hands-on methods like massage, manipulation, and articulation, and while not always regulated by official bodies, practitioners often join associations like the MAO (Member of the Association of Osteomyologists) for ethical standards.
Core principles & techniques
Holistic approach: Considers physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Focus: Works with bones (osteo), muscles (myo), joints, and nerves.
Methods: Uses hands-on techniques like massage, gentle articulation, manipulation, stretching, and muscle energy techniques.
Goal: To achieve optimal function, structural integrity, and lasting relief from pain.
What it treats
Back pain, neck/shoulder problems, sciatica.
Sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries.
Arthritis, headaches, postural issues.

Shane has recently joined our team under the Title “Osteomyologist”

Shane graduated from Chiropractic University in 2016 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida. He has owned and managed his own Chiropractic clinic in Melbourne Florida and has worked extensively in outreach clinics providing care to patients in homeless shelters and rehabilitation centres in Daytona Beach.

Most recently Shane has worked in Manilla Philippines for the last 12 months helping the local Philippino communities.

Prior to practicing he proudly served in the US airforce.

** Having just arrived in the UK Shane is in the process of applying to register for the GCC (General Chiropractic Council) TOC and then for GCC Registration in Spring 2026 after which he will use the title “Chiropractor”

Until then Shane will be using the title of Osteomyologist whilst practicing here as it is not legal to use the title of “Chiropractor” in the UK unless registered with the GCC.

Struan Brown graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic with a Masters in Chiropractic in 2013. After graduating, Struan practised in and around London, seeing a variety of patients with diverse issues. After working in London for 4 years Struan returned home to Glasgow, he continues to utilise a range of different therapies for patients depending on their needs and wants. Outside of the clinic Struan plays for his local rugby team and in his spare time enjoys watching a variety of sports (but mostly rugby or football!).
